WORD OF THE MONTH – RESPONSIBILITY

Throughout the school year at Nottingham West students learn about important character traits that will help them grow into responsible, caring adults. This program includes weekly announcements, classroom activities and a Word of the Month, which is displayed on the bulletin board in the front hall.
During the month of September, students will be learning about the value of RESPONSIBILITY. Responsibility for young children means following rules, making good decisions and being accountable for their actions.
To help teach the meaning of responsibility at home:
- Give your children age appropriate responsibilities around the house. Kids can do a lot to help when they are directly taught what is expected and how to do it.
- Provide opportunities for your kids to make structured choices, like choosing between two different snacks for their lunchboxes.
- Don't regularly do for your children what they can do for themselves! Everyone needs to experience trying, failing and trying again.
