Registering Your Child All children must be registered before starting the program. You can log on to the school district web site at www.sau81.org to register your child. In addition to this, you will need to bring these three things to the school: 1. A copy of the birth certificate 2. Immunization records from the physician 3. Proof of residency such as a utility bill (cell phone bills are not acceptable)
You can bring these items to the school at any time prior to their start; please let the office staff know if you are presenting originals and they will make copies as needed.

Separating from Your Child We understand that the transition can be emotional for both the child and parents, especially on the first few days. Our experienced preschool staff will assist you as you and your child part at the curb. Your child's preschool teacher will contact you in advance to discuss your concerns and decide how to help transition your child into school in a caring and supportive manner.
Toileting Questions If your child is not yet toilet trained, please be sure your child's backpack always has a complete change of clothes as well as several diapers or pull-ups and wipes. As your child progresses into toilet training, please let the staff know the progress you are making at home so the staff at school can provide continuity in approaching toileting at school. |
What Do I Need to Provide?
Tell Me About Snack Time... We provide snack each day, as well as a choice of water or juice. The snacks represent a variety of tastes and textures to expose the students to new foods. Often times, children will try new foods at school when they see their peers eating it! Students are encouraged to try a polite bite.
Food Allergies Please alert the teacher to any food allergies or sensitivities your child has. The teacher will work with you to come up with a plan to address food allergy concerns.
Communication with Staff You are an essential part of your child's education and establishing a positive means of communicating with the teacher is essential. Your child's teacher will let you know the best way to contact them. The main line at school is 595-1570 and the web site is www.sau81.org (click on the picture of Nottingham West for school specific information).
Who Will Be Working with My Child? There are numerous members of the preschool staff that will be working in the classroom. In addition to the classroom teacher, there are paraeducators who aid students each day. Each week, all students participate in a 30 minute group speech session, as well as a 30 minute group occupational therapy session to work on fine motor skills. There are physical therapists who work with some students as well as various consultants to provide support to staff as needed. If your child has been identified as needing any related services, you will have the opportunity to meet the staff member who will be working with your child. |
