Scott Foresman Reading Series
|
Scott Foresman Reading Street © 2008 is an all-new scientifically research-based reading program, adopted district wide for Grades K-5. Reading Street is designed to help teachers build readers through motivating and engaging literature, and a wealth of reliable teaching tools. The program provides lessons for differentiating instruction with a strong emphasis on continual progress-monitoring and an explicit plan to help with managing small groups of students. Reading Streets includes a “golden” collection of literature with an even balance between fiction and nonfiction materials which include Newbury winners, Caldecott winners, Coretta Scott King award winners, and more. It has funny stories, scary stories and real-life adventures! One story perfectly leads to the next- one concept is explored from many sides. Children have enough time to think about a big idea, learn and enjoy. Reading Streets provides the right kind of literature at all grades. Students are gradually introduced to more and more nonfiction as they learn to process informational text. |
In addition, Reading Street prioritizes skill instruction at each grade level, so teachers can be assured they will focus on the right skill, at the right time, and for every student. The 5 key Priority Skills areas include:
- Phonemic Awareness
- Phonics
- Fluency
- Vocabulary
- Comprehension
Reading Streets provides teachers with a variety of lessons for the classroom that meet the individual needs of their learners. The Scott Foresman reading program also offers strategic interventions as well as, the Sidewalks intervention program, which will be used for some students who require reading intervention beyond the regular classroom.
