Music Department
The music room is a safe place where students are encouraged to explore and develop their performance skills in many areas. As an overview, students will sing and study various authentic folk songs of many cultures, read and notate music, play instrumental accompaniments as well as melodies on a variety of pitched and un-pitched percussion instruments. In fourth grade students play their first wind instrument called the recorder, and play their first fretted stringed instrument called the classical acoustic guitar in grade 5. Students in grade 4 and 5 have the opportunity to participate in the Nottingham West chorus program.
