Battle of the Books is currently in its 10th year at Nottingham West!

Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program designed to encourage students to read quality literature. The program is designed for motivated readers who would like to improve their fluency and comprehension. Battle of the Books is a program where students can share their love of reading with their friends.

Students must read a total of six books that have been selected by the nationally known Battle of the Books Program, and attend practice meetings to prepare for our "battles" in March. The fourth and fifth grade students participating in this program will compete together in teams within our school building to determine the top scoring team for Nottingham West. During this "battle" the students will answer a variety of questions about the six required reading books, and identify the title of the book where the event occurred and the author(s) of the book. Comprehension plays a big role in this program!
